BRIDAL MAKEUP IN DUBAI

COMMERCIAL  |  EDITORIAL  |  LUXURY BRIDAL

I’m a bridal makeup artist and hair stylist based in Dubai, where I’ve worked for more than ten years. Before that, I built and ran my own agency in Toronto. I trained in New York and Toronto. I do both hair and makeup myself. On your wedding morning, that means one person in your suite instead of two, and one schedule instead of two.

This is the question brides ask me most, and it’s the right one to ask. A look that holds up in a London church can slide off at an outdoor ceremony in Dubai in June. You’re dealing with heat above 40°C, humidity off the water, and hours between the first photograph and the first dance. Products that weren’t chosen for this climate simply don’t last. Once they start to slip, touch-ups can’t save them.

Your wedding morning isn’t the moment to try something new. During a trial, we might discover that the smoky eye you saved on Instagram doesn’t suit your face. Meanwhile, I learn how your skin behaves before the day itself.

What to bring to your trial

  • Your dress, if possible, or photos of it.
  • Photos of your hair accessory and veil.
  • Two or three looks you love.
  • One look you don’t like.
  • Knowing what you want to avoid is often more useful than knowing what you want.

Trials for destination brides

  • Many destination brides can’t attend a trial in person, so we work differently:
  • A video consultation before you travel.
  • Reference images shared both ways.
  • A written plan for your look.
  • Extra time on the wedding morning, so nothing feels rushed.

Two looks in one day
This is common in Dubai and rarely mentioned elsewhere. Many brides want a softer look for the ceremony and a stronger one for the reception. I make the change in about 30 minutes, so you don’t miss an hour of your own party.
Tattoo coverage with airbrush
Perhaps your family is conservative, or your dress shows a tattoo you’d rather hide. Either way, airbrush coverage is simple, and it lasts all night. Few artists advertise it, yet many brides need it. Just ask.
Hair that works with your veil or shayla
A veil, a comb, a heavy headpiece and a shayla each need different support underneath.
Makeup for every skin tone
Dubai isn’t one complexion, so I don’t carry one set of shades. My kit covers a full range of skin tones. I match your undertone in daylight, on your face, rather than guessing from a photo.
Hair and makeup for the bridal party
I can also prepare your mother, sisters and bridesmaids. On my own, I can comfortably handle four people. For larger groups, I bring a second artist, so nobody is still in a robe when the cars arrive.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Hair and makeup for you takes about 2 hours. Each additional person – your mother, your sisters, your bridesmaids – takes roughly 90 minutes, or 45 minutes for makeup only.
I work backwards from the time you need to be in the dress, not from the ceremony, and I build in a buffer because something always runs late and it should not be me. Before the day I ask your photographer what time they want you ready, then send you a written schedule with a start time for every person in the room, so nobody is guessing and nobody is queuing.
I would rather finish twenty minutes early and have you sitting calmly than finish on the second.

Yes, and most of my Dubai brides book more than one.
A wedding here is rarely a single morning. There is often a henna night, a nikah, and then the reception, sometimes across a week and sometimes on consecutive days, and each one wants a different face – deeper and more ornamental for the henna night, softer and more traditional for the nikah, strongest for the reception.
I book these together, plan the three looks as a set so they progress rather than repeat, and price them as a package rather than three separate bookings. Family and bridal party can be added to any of the days. Tell me the whole shape of the week when you first message me and I will quote the whole thing.

Tell me before the trial rather than on the morning, and all three are manageable.
Oily skin in this climate needs different preparation, not more powder – the right primer and a set that lets the skin breathe will outlast a heavy build every time. Breakouts are covered at the trial so we both know what the coverage looks like on camera before it matters.
For sensitive skin I will patch test at the trial, and if you are on Roaccutane, tretinoin or anything similar, say so – it changes what I can safely put on your face and how your skin will take it.
One piece of advice worth more than any product: no facials, peels or new skincare in the few days before the wedding. Every bad wedding-morning skin story I have seen started with a facial the week before.

Message me with your date and your venue. I will tell you within 24 hours whether I am free – honestly, including if I am not, because a maybe held for three weeks helps neither of us.
