HAIRSTYLIST IN DUBAI

COMMERCIAL  |  EDITORIAL  |  LUXURY BRIDAL

I’m a hairstylist in Dubai, and I’ve been styling hair here for more than ten years. I trained in New York and Toronto, and ran my own agency in Toronto before moving to the UAE. Hair in this climate is its own discipline: humidity drops curls, heat loosens pins, and a heavy shayla or headpiece needs real structure underneath to stay in place all night. I build every style for the setting it has to survive, from an outdoor ceremony to a long ballroom reception. Because I also do makeup, you can book both with one artist and one schedule.

I come to you at your hotel, villa or home, anywhere in Dubai. I also travel to Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. Most of my bookings fall into three groups:

  • Brides and bridal parties: updos, half-up styles and soft waves for the wedding day, plus separate looks for the henna night and nikah.
  • Events and celebrations: galas, engagements and evenings when you want your hair done properly without a salon visit.
  • Commercial and editorial shoots: hair that holds up under lights and camera flash, and stays consistent from the first frame to the last.

Most styles fail here for three reasons:

  • Humidity: waves relax within an hour.
  • Heat: product breaks down and pins start to slide.
  • The length of the day: there can be eight hours between getting ready and the last dance.

I work around all three in a few ways:

  • I prep the hair for the climate, not for a studio.
  • I set curls so they cool in shape before they’re released.
  • I build a secure base before any accessory goes in.

If part of your day is outdoors between May and September, tell me when you book. It changes how I set the style.

Each accessory needs different support underneath:

  • A cathedral veil pulls backwards, so it needs a firm anchor point.
  • A shayla needs a smooth, flat base that won’t shift when the fabric is pinned.
  • A heavy crown or tikka needs the weight spread across the head, so it doesn’t drag or cause headaches by evening.

Dubai brings together every hair texture there is: fine and straight, thick and coarse, curly and coily. I adapt my products and technique to your hair rather than forcing it into a single method. If your hair is very fine, very thick or chemically treated, mention it when you book so I bring the right tools.

A trial shows how your hair behaves with your products and your accessory before the day itself. If you’re flying in, I offer a video consultation and a written plan for your style. I can also arrange a short-notice trial once you land.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Bridal hair takes about an hour, and longer for complex updos or heavy headpieces. I’ll send a timed schedule so everyone in the bridal party knows when they’re starting.

Yes. I’m fully mobile across Dubai, and I also travel to Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

Yes. Booking both with one artist means one schedule and one point of contact. See Bridal Makeup.

Wash it the day before, not the morning of. Second-day hair holds pins and curls better. Skip conditioner on the lengths, and don’t use oils or serums.
